Ooh la~ la~ the cake order by Ms Low for us and huixin's kids.

Too bad that Huixin's kids are down with hand, foot, mouth disease.  Nice time having to catch up over lunch.

Haha ..think the next round Ms Low is hoping to see all the kids of our class. For those married ones, please do not hesitate to bring your kids along.

All about bones

Bones form our skeleton frame , how often do we consider if our bones are healthy? What kind of bone health are we looking at in order to ensure our bones are healthy to last us till our old age in the 70s or 80s ?

These are some of the following ways to get healthy bones

Get 30 minutes of weight bearing exercise daily. When muscles are exercised they pull on the bones they are attached to. This pulling action builds bone tissue, so weight bearing exercises build stronger, denser bones.
  • Building bone mass before age 30 is beneficial later in life when bones are breaking down, but weight bearing exercise throughout life helps to maintain bone density.
  • Weight bearing exercises include weight lifting, running, step aerobics and any activity that requires your body to work against gravity, thereby creating resistance.
  • Unlike aerobic exercise, weight bearing exercise does not need to be done all at once to be beneficial. Doing 10 minutes of weight bearing exercise 3 times a day is equally as beneficial as a half-hour work out.
  • Eat a healthy diet to increase bone density. To build bone material your body needs calcium and vitamin D. In addition to calcium, your bones are 1/3 collagen, a protein that gives bones flexibility and minimizes breakage.

  • Eat lots of leafy green vegetables, both raw and cooked. Not only are these vegetables high in calcium, they are also a good source of potassium, vitamin K, and other minerals necessary for healthy bone growth.
  • Drink low-fat milk and eat low-fat yogurt, cheese and other dairy products to increase your calcium consumption. Dairy products are fortified with vitamin D to help your body to absorb and use the calcium content.
  • Consider taking a calcium supplement if your diet falls short of your daily calcium needs. If you need more than 500 mg a day in the form of a calcium supplement, take your daily supplements in two smaller doses. Your body is only able to absorb up to 500 mg at a time.
  • Replenish the collagen in your bones by eating a sufficient amount of lean protein, such as poultry, fish and beans.
  • Add whole grain pasta and bread to your diet for a good source of magnesium. Magnesium is known to help bones stay strong.

    How to curb allergies

    1. Wash hair before bed so allergens don’t get on pillow and then in eyes
    2. Avoid consuming “cured meats.” The nitrites & nitrates in them will worsen your allergies
    3. Don’t use any form of fabric softener or dryer sheets to avoid irritating residues
    4. Groom cats with damp cloths or cotton gloves. It will help to eliminate allergens
    5. Keep a diary to help you and your doctor sort out your allergic “triggers”
    6. Use saline sinus rinse to wash out nasal irritants daily or even twice daily
    7. Change the air filter in your AC or heating unit
    8. Cover your bedding, including the comforter, with dust mite proof coverings
    9. Avoid consuming sugar & sweets – these items can increase your risk for allergy attacks
    10. Kitty liter is a source of irritation – use large wood chips, crystal balls or newspaper chips
    11. Wash eye lashes with dilute baby shampoo to clean off allergens
    12. Avoid consuming vegetable oils like soy & canola – these oils can make your allergies much worse

Review of a spa on 21.6.13

I was given a chance to review a spa which aims To be Singapore's most recommended spa where customers love to visit and our people serve happily and become a force for good in our communities.

It is none other than Healing Touch Singapore!! I was excited about it cos i love massages. The kind of massage which i usually go for is swedish massage. However , this time round at Healing Touch I opted for the asian fusion massage. It is the signature massage with variety of techniques inspired by popular traditional Asian massages fused into a seamless wave of healing touch. Great for relief of tension, stiffness and body aches.

I also got to choose a body scrub which is refreshing lemon grass salt scrub. The lemongrass salt scrub was pretty fine in terms of the texture.

My masseue for the day was Monica. Here's a picture of both of us.

Monica was very detailed and also that she was constantly asking if her pressure was too hard on me.

I chose the tension oil to go along with my massage.

Seriously speaking, the massage that monica gave was good and it was way much better than a few years back when i patronized healing touch as in the tampines outlet. Firstly, I did not break into rashes as per my last visit donkey years ago where they use only sunflower oil for massage. Now all the aromatherapy oil is all fully blended with the herbs to provide better massage experience. Secondly , as I am very particular about the bathroom usage. It was kept in tip top condition. Thirdly, I appreciate that all the staff there always wear a smile to keep all patrons feeling happy and relaxed. Lastly, it is a company that not only provide massage services but also facial services.

The best of all is that I could do a booking via the website and it is real time based. Here's the website http://www.healingtouch.com.sg/

    What is law of attraction?

The name law of attraction was given due to the belief that "like attracts like" and that by focusing on either positive or negative thoughts, one can bring about either positive or negative results.
This belief is based upon the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from pure energy, and the belief that like energy attracts like energy. It is known to be the science of attracting of what you want and less of what you don't.

One example used by a proponent of the law of attraction is that if a person opened an envelope expecting to see a bill, then the law of attraction would "confirm" those thoughts and contain a bill when opened. A person who decided to instead expect a cheque might, under the same law, find a cheque instead of a bill.

Something that intrigues me was that this law of attraction also uses the concept that where your attention goes , your energy flow. I personally have tried this concept and it works. I was privellged that I have a friend, Meiyappan Siva Pandian who is interested to teach others about law of attraction .

Meiyappan Siva Pandian is a certified Law of Attraction coach and trainer certified by Law of Attraction Centre in Malaysia. M Siva holds a Masters  and a first class honour degree in electrical engineering. He has worked with large MNCs such as Intel technology. Inspired by Michael Losier, international trainer and author of best selling book " Law of Attraction", M Siva began to pursue his passion in performance cocahing and self mastery. Using accelerated learning techniques, he is able to coach business to peak through enhancing client sales and productivity by law of attaction, law of connection and NLP.

Anyone interested in learning the law of attraction could email him at msiva@theloacentre.com with the code Aloa to get the free 1 hr coaching from him.

    Testimonial from his client

Ever since I found out about Law of Attraction in 2008, I have been reading lots of materials from the internet, books, videos, audios – you name it, in an attempt to ‘master’ it. Though I did improve in several areas of my life, I was unable to get out of my financial woes.

All that changed when I signed up for the 90-day Coaching Programme by LOA Centre. I got positive result in just one week! I have completed my coaching and my monthly income has increased by 90%. The greatest part of it all is, I learn to be a better person. That is something that money can’t buy. My deepest gratitude to everybody at LOA Centre Malaysia

Ways to make u stay alert

    Massage way

I have learnt a way of massage that helps me to keep myself alert during exams. That is to massage my own head using the thumbs and the index fingers.

Step 1: Place ur thumbs at the start of your jaw bone on the head, and index fingers slightly about one inch above the ears.

Step 2: Lift up the thumbs and index fingers a few times to do the massage and you will feel refreshed.

    Supplementations

I would usually rely on taking cordy max and ginko from pharmanex brand to boost  my stamina else I would have to rely on at least 4 cups of coffee. I can help to buy at a discount rate.

How to remove gallstones and also how to detect it

One of the symptoms of gallstones is a feeling of bloatedness after a heavy meal. You feel like you can’t digest the food. If it gets more serious, you feel pain in the liver area.” So if you think you have gallstones, Chiu Nan offers the following method to remove them naturally.

The treatment is also good for those with a weak liver, because the liver and gallbladder are closely linked.

    Regimen:
    1. For the first five days, take four glasses of apple juice ever day. Or eat four or five apples, whichever you prefer. Apple juice softens the gallstones. During the five days, eat normally.
    2. On the sixth day, take no dinner.
    3. At 6 PM, take a teaspoon of Epsom salt (magnesium sulphate) with a glass of warm water.
    4. At 8 PM, repeat the same. Magnesium sulphate opens the gallbladder ducts.
    5. At 10 PM, take half cup olive oil ( or sesame oil ) with half cup fresh lemon juice. Mix it well and drink it. The oil lubricates the stones to ease their passage.

    Seasonal allergies's quick fix remedies

    How to identify synthetic vitamins

    • Organic substances generally have common names because they come from natural food sources.
    • For e.g "Lemon Grass" instead of acetate and palmitate; "Citrus" instead of "Vitamin C" or "Parsley" instead of "vitamin K"
    • Find words that end with "ate" or "ide" in the list of ingredients.
    • For e.g. nitrate, acetate, sodium ascorbate, sodium benzoate, chloride, hydrochloride, silicon dioxide and titanium dioxide.
    • In the ingredients label search for words that begin with "dl."
    • For e.g. Natural Vitamin E = d-alpha-tocopherol; Synthetic Vitamin E = dl-alpha-tocopheryl
These are the simple ways to identify synthetic vitamins , so you people out there please look out for it.
