Before and after the SG Blog Awards Event

Being able to attend the SG Blog Awards Event was something I had never dreamt off. However, this year as a finalist for the best cooking blog award I got to attend it with a guest. Preparations for the derby dress code for this event got me excited.  As I am seldom interested in fashion trends, I ended up googling and shopping online just for it. I am happy with my purchases as it can be recycled for many rounds.

On the actual day of the SG Blog Awards Event

Together with my guest , we arrived a little earlier. Thus we went shooting some photographs around the mall.

Here's some photos before the event started (Photo courtesy by my guest cum friend)

Guest of Honor - Miss Sim Ann (Minister of  State,
Ministry of Education & Ministry of Communications and Information)

She was a lady who is always on the constant move in upgrading. She was even presenting the award to her ex classmate , Ms Regina Chow for the best fashion blog.  Next, we had some dance performance by a group of dancers and fellow bloggers Smith Leong and Ninja Girls. Forget to take pictures as too engrossed with the performance.

Last but not least groupie photo with the category winners

We were all treated to some light refreshments after the event. Indeed, it was the experience to be able to join in the event as a participant, observer and also supporter for bloggers who I am admire. To me , it is the first lifetime achievement which I got for myself into attending big media event like this.  The takeaway from the event was being able to truly appreciate everyone's participation in the event. Without that , I guess it would not be memorable for all the category winners nor the fellow participants.I really thank my friend for waking up so early to join me at the event.

Last but not least, I want to thank all my friends, blogger friends for supporting me throughout my this blogging journey for making it so enjoyable and fruitful.

Ribena Berry Bread Recipe and Chicken Curry Party

Ingredients

100g of mixed berries- dried cranberry and blue berries
250 g of bread flour
2 tablespoon of sugar
1 tablespoon of milk powder
1 teaspoon of salt
1.5 teaspoon of instant dry yeast
10g of butter
150ml of cold water
40ml of ribena

Method

Firstly, I put all the necessary ingredients in the bread pan except for the yeast and mixed berries.
Secondly, I select menu 2 for it and also select raisins with music. So as to facilitate the putting in of the berries at 32 min. Last but not least, set the timer to bake and press start. It will end at 2 hrs later.

As for the chicken curry party, it was an impromptu decision last night between me and my friend cecilia. I offered to bake the basic bread to her house while she cook the curry. It was a day of baking 3 loaves at one go  with less than 1 hr apart from each loaf . You can't use it straight after baking one loaf for another loaf else the machine will prompt the word U50 to prevent you from using.

Here's the pictures of the chicken party.

My friend's kid even mentioned this is the first time that I would eat the bread crust. The curry cooked by my friend was super nice. Long time never had nice chicken curry. Next time , I shall share with you my friend's chicken curry recipe.

Celebrating mom's birthday by making home-made focaccia bread using Panasonic bread maker

Today is my mom's birthday so i decided that yesterday night that I will bake her focaccia bread so that she could bring to office to sort of treat her colleagues.

I would very much like to show the photos of my mom cutting the bread in place of the birthday cake but I think i shall keep it for private viewing. My mom was so excited about it cos it is first time she does not have birthday cake but birthday bread for cutting . She was so cute that she made a wish before cutting the bread. After she cut her first slice, I helped her to pack the bread into ziplock bag for her to bring to work.

You know it is like the kind of feeling preparing those goodie bags for kids when kids have parties at school.

Here's the recipe

Ingredients

225g of bread flour
25g of plain flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of mixed herbs from master foods
2 tablespoons of  olive oil
170 ml of cold water ( reduce water by 10ml if rm temp is above 25 degrees Celsius)
1/2 teaspoon of instant dry yeast

After which , i used the menu 4 and set it on timer for 5 hrs to go on baking.

End results

As all out of you out there knows that I am into the best cooking blog award , therefore I am supposed to create recipes out from the panasonic bread maker. I have been cracking my head on what kind of recipe should i bake . Then this idea came to me as I thought it would be easy for the parents to coax kids to try out museli

Here's my own recipe of organic chocolate museli bread.

Ingredients
75g of whole wheat flour -best to get the brand bake king
175g of bread flour
10g of SCS butter
1 tablespoon of milk powder
1 teaspoon of salt
2 tablespoons of granulated sugar
1 teaspoon of instant yeast
60g of organic museli
190ml of chocolate milk

Method
1. Place the above ingredients expect the organic museli and yeast into the bread pan.
2. Place the yeast into the yeast dispenser and organic museli into the nuts dispenser
3.Select Menu no.2 for the rapid mode and select raisin mode and press start
4. Once ready , remove the bread from pan and leave it for cooling before cutting.

Do take note for those who have nuts allergy, please do not try this as I do not know if it contains nuts within the museli.

Cooking demo by Panasonic for public and bloggers by Theresa Wong

Yesterday, I attended the cooking demo as organized by the Singapore Blog Awards committee for my category which is the best cooking blog award. The instructor of the day was Ms Theresa Wong.
She taught 4 recipes for the day. They are the mixed wheat raisin bread, bbq char siew buns , tuna pizza and mango smoothie.

First, she showed us  how the bread maker works. Like how easy it was for us to bake bread at the comfort of the home. She mentioned that if you have forgotten to put in some ingredients, one does not have to worry. As the bread maker can still in ingredients when it is in the kneading stage.

Next, we have the char siew bun made with bbq chicken. The char siew sauce that she make for the char siew sauce was superb. I felt that the char siew could be eaten it on its own as a dish.

Here's the recipe for the char siew

Char siew filling
150g of roast chicken
50 g of diced yellow onion
1/2 tablespoon of tapioca starch with 3 tablespoons of water add
2 tablespoons of cornflour

Char siew sauce
20g of castor sugar
1 tablespoon of superior light sauce
1/8 tsp of salt
1 and a half tsp of sesame oil
1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
1/2 table spoon of superior dark sauce
120ml of water

To make the char siew of this version, you got to cook the onion with 1 tablespoon of oil in high power in microwave for 3 mins in which you do not cover. Next, you add the sauce and cook on high power in microwave for 3 mins in which you cover. Then you add cornflour to mixture and cook
on high power for 2 mins in microwave oven and leave it aside. Lastly, add in the bbq meat to sauce.

While waiting for the char siew bun to be made, she made us some mango smoothie. She also started using the bread maker to do the pizza dough. Most of the participants have a great time enjoying the food.

For me, it was more of a learning experience as I don't really bake and I am more prone to cooking chinese or fusion meals. For once, I know that bread that is home made can last for 4 days without preservatives. However, for the bread maker to work effectively it is best to use the measuring spoon and cup provided from the panasonic bread maker itself . The best flour to use for baking with this panasonic bread maker that is to be on loan to me is the bake king bread flour.
